The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operation Secretariat (NAIMOS) Task Force has arrested 11 Chinese nationals and seized several pieces of equipment in a major crackdown on illegal mining activities in the Bole/Bamboi area.
The development was announced by Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, in a Facebook post on Sunday, July 28.
According to him, the arrests were made on July 24, 2025, and the following day, July 25, the task force returned to the site and confiscated a range of equipment used in galamsey operations.
Among the seized items were four Shacman tipper trucks (GT 7048-25, GT 7035-25, GT 7265-25, GT 7243-25), a bulldozer (GT 5321-25), a low-bed truck (GT 1128-21), and a Forland small truck.
The task force also confiscated 10 drums of engine oil, 28 assorted Richlion tires, and several motorbikes.
“The seized equipment and items have been conveyed to NAIMOS headquarters in Accra through hired drivers, where they will be held for further direction and action,” Mr. Ofosu stated.
He added that the task force’s operations in Bole/Bamboi form part of a broader national strategy to curb illegal mining, which continues to pose a serious threat to the environment and local communities.
NAIMOS is expected to sustain its operations in the area as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle illegal mining networks and restore order in affected regions.
