The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has held discussions with the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) and key stakeholders to implement government’s directive to reduce the price of diesel by GH¢2.00 per litre.
The intervention follows a directive by President John Dramani Mahama aimed at cushioning consumers and easing the cost of diesel during the month of August 2026.
According to the Minister, the relief measure will remain in effect for one month and will be reviewed within the period based on prevailing market conditions and other relevant factors.
Dr Jinapor said the engagement with the NPA and industry stakeholders was focused on ensuring the smooth implementation of the price reduction while maintaining stability within the downstream petroleum sector.
He noted that the intervention reflects government’s commitment to reducing the financial burden on consumers without compromising the efficient operation of the petroleum industry.
The Minister assured the public that the government will continue to monitor developments in the fuel market and take pragmatic decisions that protect the interests of Ghanaians while promoting stability in the energy sector.
