The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals accused of plotting to assassinate a chief at Akyem Kwabeng in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were apprehended through an intelligence-led operation after police uncovered a plan to eliminate the chief ahead of his maiden Royal Durbar scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.
According to police intelligence, the operation followed credible information received on October 11, 2025, leading investigators to infiltrate the suspects’ network.
During the covert engagement, Emelia Akua Asor allegedly offered GH₵50,000 to undercover officers to kill the chief and another woman reportedly set to be installed as queen mother. She also instructed her accomplice, Butuakwa Seth, to identify and lead the officers to the residences of the intended victims.
Seth is said to have guided the team to both homes and provided a photograph of the chief to facilitate the plan. The suspects allegedly promised an additional GH₵50,000 upon completion of the crime.
Police confirmed that both suspects are in custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court in due course.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding traditional leaders and ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the region.
