A change in leadership has taken place within the IGP’s Special Operations Team following a formal handover ceremony held at the National Police Training School on April 7, 2026.
The outgoing team leader, DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil, officially transferred command to Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, who now assumes responsibility for leading the specialised unit.
He will be supported by three senior officers as part of the new leadership structure.
Addressing personnel at the ceremony, DSP Bawah Abdul Jalil called on officers to fully support the incoming leadership to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the team’s operational effectiveness.
Superintendent Augustine Dawson Amoah, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to provide strong leadership and urged members of the unit to uphold discipline, unity, and professionalism in carrying out their duties.
The IGP Special Operations Team plays a key role in supporting critical police operations, and the leadership transition is expected to ensure continuity in its mandate.
