The Ministry of Education has given firm assurance to parents and candidates of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) that placement-related challenges will be cleared before schools reopen on October 18.
This year, more than 600,000 pupils sat for the BECE, with about 590,000 qualifying for placement into Senior High Schools, Senior High Technical Schools, and Technical and Vocational Institutions across the country.
Deputy Education Minister, Dr. Clement Apaak, explained that while the majority of candidates have already been placed, competition for highly sought-after schools meant some students did not get their preferred choices.
He encouraged affected candidates to make use of the self-placement system, which has been activated to provide alternatives.
During a visit to the National Resolution Center in Accra, Dr. Apaak assured parents and students present that the placement process was ongoing and that no candidate would be left behind.
We acknowledge that not everyone has been placed in their school of choice, but we are committed to ensuring that every child is placed. We ask for your patience, as this is a process and it has not ended,” he stated.
The Ministry has urged parents and guardians to remain calm as the placement team works around the clock to ensure a smooth start of the academic year.
