The High Court in Accra has modified the bail conditions for former National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mustapha Hamid and nine co-accused in connection with alleged extortion of oil marketing companies.
Originally granted bail on December 9, 2025, the accused were required to report periodically to the Registrar of the Court.
Following a successful application by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the court ruled that reporting should now be directed to the lead investigator, aiming to enhance supervision and monitoring during the pre-trial period.
Under the revised conditions, the accused must meet with the lead investigator on the first and third Tuesdays of each month until the trial begins.
Once proceedings are underway, the frequency of reporting will be reduced to the first Tuesday of every month to align with court sessions. The lead investigator is also required to submit monthly compliance reports to the court.
In addition, the court ordered that all accused be placed on a stop list, barring their exit from the country without prior authorization.
The adjustments to bail conditions are intended to ensure stricter oversight of the accused while the legal process unfolds.
