The Commercial Transport Operators of Ghana have expressed gratitude to the government and the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) following the recent reduction in fuel prices, saying it has significantly eased operational costs for transport operators.
In a statement dated January 6, 2026, the operators noted that while the fuel price cut is welcome, there are growing concerns about drivers who continue to charge unapproved fares, undermining law-abiding operators.
“We urge the various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and the Ghana Police Service to support us in bringing these drivers to book,” the statement said.
The operators have made several specific requests, including:
• Strict enforcement of approved fare structures by MMDAs and the Police.
• Disciplinary action against drivers charging unapproved fares.
• Support from authorities in maintaining fair and regulated transport services.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to the public, stating, “We, the Commercial Transport Operators, commit to providing quality and affordable transport services to the public.”
