Confusion and frustration gripped the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Accra on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, as hundreds of parents and their children rushed to seek answers over this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) placement.
Parents complained of long queues, lack of clear communication, and widespread errors in the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). Many students who scored well reported being placed in schools far from their preferred locations, while others had not been assigned at all despite meeting cut-off points.
Some parents expressed disappointment that their wards were denied boarding placements even when they qualified, while others cited being sent to schools with no available boarding facilities despite indicating otherwise during selection.
Parents have therefore called for more transparency, better communication, and stricter monitoring to prevent exploitation.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education has assured that all placement-related challenges will be resolved before Senior High Schools reopen on October 18, urging families to remain calm as technical teams work to address the issues.
