Ministry of Sports and Recreation has assured Ghanaians that the senior national women’s team, the Black Queens, are safe and well while participating in the Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
In an official statement released on March 2, 2026, the Ministry emphasized that the team is being closely monitored as part of preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
“The Ministry of Sports and Recreation wishes to assure the public that the Black Queens are safe and well in the United Arab Emirates, where they are currently participating in the Pink Ladies Cup as part of their preparations for the forthcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations,” the statement read.
Officials from Ghana’s Mission in the UAE visited the team camp to ensure the safety and welfare of the players. The Ministry praised the Embassy for its “prompt response, proactive engagement, and close coordination during this period.”
The statement further highlighted the government’s commitment to the protection and well-being of all Ghanaian athletes abroad.
“Government remains fully committed to the protection, welfare, and well-being of all Ghanaian athletes representing the nation abroad. The situation continues to be closely monitored in collaboration with the appropriate authorities, and any necessary measures will be taken in the best interest of the team,” it said.
The Ministry urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting the team as they prepare for the continental tournament.
