The National Democratic Congress (NDC) investigative committee is expected to submit its report today, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, on allegations of inducement and vote buying during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primaries held on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
The primaries were followed by claims that Baba Jamal’s camp distributed television sets, cash and other items to delegates, raising concerns about vote buying.
In response, the NDC condemned the alleged conduct and constituted a three-member committee to probe the matter.
The committee was initially made up of Kofi Totobi Quakyi as chairman, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, and lawyer Emefa Fugah.
However, Ayariga later recused himself and was replaced by former MP and Minister, Inusah Fuseini, after the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament—led by Ayariga—called for the annulment of the primary.
The committee is tasked to investigate the allegations, recommend appropriate sanctions where necessary, and propose reforms aimed at preventing inducement and vote buying in future internal elections.
Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, the key figure implicated in the allegations, has denied any wrongdoing.
In a statement issued following his recall as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal said the claims circulating in videos and on social media were false and did not reflect how he conducted himself during the primary.
He has also reaffirmed his readiness to cooperate fully with both the party’s committee and state authorities investigating the matter.
The NDC has urged its members, supporters and the general public to remain calm, assuring that it remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity in its internal electoral processes as the committee submits its report today.
