A 30-year-old man, Moses, has been arrested in the Central Region for allegedly killing his girlfriend, identified as Sister Yaa, at Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District.
According to police, the suspect, a resident of Oboman in the Ga South Municipality, had visited the victim to spend the night. A disagreement reportedly erupted after the deceased refused his sexual advances.
The suspect allegedly attacked her with a machete, then fatally struck her head with a concrete block.
The Chief of Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta and Ogyahene of the Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Achiene Acheampong Kuma, told media, “He butchered his girlfriend before smashing her head with the block.”
He added that he immediately informed the Jei-Krodua and Kasoa Ofaakor District Police Commands, prompting the suspect’s arrest.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and the victim’s body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary. Authorities are working to contact the family of the deceased as investigations continue.
