The Ashanti Region has emerged as the deadliest in Ghana for road crashes, according to the latest mid-year report by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA).
Data presented by the Ashanti Regional Director of the NRSA, Akwasi Agyenim Boateng, revealed that the region accounts for 25.7% of all road fatalities and 34.6% of injuries nationwide as of July 2025.
Between January 2024 and July 2025, Ashanti recorded over 20,000 crash cases, claiming 3,131 lives and leaving more than 24,000 people injured.
Mr. Boateng described the figures as alarming, citing reckless driving, speeding, and poor compliance with road safety regulations as key causes.
He urged drivers and road users to adopt safer practices while pledging intensified enforcement and awareness campaigns to curb the rising casualties.
