A passionate National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist, Prissy Ekua Adiepena Hemans, has launched a scathing attack on President John Dramani Mahama and the appointing authorities over what she calls the sidelining of loyal party foot soldiers.
Her outburst follows the appointment of Rosemond Obeng, a former secretary to the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to a key position in the new NDC-led administration.
Furious and visibly disappointed, Prissy took to her Facebook page to vent her frustration, accusing party leadership of ignoring the sacrifices of grassroots members who, in her view, worked tirelessly to bring the NDC back to power.
“When some foot soldiers boldly told you they won’t allow themselves to be used again with regards to the Ablekuma North reelection,” she wrote, “people who should know better took it to their walls to shade comrades and called their bluff.”
According to her, those making appointments often claim, “not all comrades will get an appointment,” yet they find room for individuals who only recently defected or betrayed their former allies.
“You have enough to give someone who came out to betray her boss just a few weeks before the election,” she fumed. “Comrades should exercise patience, yet you keep testing their temper.”
Prissy did not mince words as she launched a sarcastic jab at the handlers of the appointment process:
“You people have done well. Those in charge of appointments have done well paa. If H.E. John Dramani Mahama is reading from my wall, I will encourage him to increase their salary. They are doing a very good job at the top.”
Credible sources close to Prissy indicate that she has made several efforts to secure an appointment herself, all of which have proven futile. Her frustration, they say, reflects a deeper sentiment shared by many within the party base.
Indeed, Prissy’s public expression is just one of many simmering frustrations among NDC grassroots supporters. Some activists, unable or unwilling to voice their concerns publicly, continue to suffer in silence.
