The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), under the leadership of Chief Executive Michael Kpapko Allotey, has launched Operation “Red Line”, a new demarcation strategy aimed at improving pedestrian safety and regulating street trading in the Central Business District.

The initiative, part of the AMA’s broader decongestion exercise, involves the clear marking of red lines on pavements and walkways to designate specific zones for pedestrian use and controlled trading activities.

The operation is being rolled out alongside ongoing enforcement exercises, which include the removal of unauthorised structures, mobile vendors, and encroachments that obstruct public pathways and roadways.

On Wednesday, May 21, the AMA taskforce continued its decongestion efforts at the bustling Circle Neoplan Station, marking Day 2 of its citywide campaign to reduce congestion in the capital.
