The Ghana Police Service has intensified its operations in the Ahafo Region following a string of coordinated robberies in Nkasiem, successfully arresting two armed suspects linked to the attacks.
On December 2, 2025, the suspects allegedly targeted a gold buying company, a cocoa buying company, and attempted to force their way into the vault of the Asutifi Rural Bank.
During the attacks, one individual was shot in the thigh by the robbers but has since been treated and discharged from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hwidiem.
Authorities described the arrests as the result of a targeted, intelligence-led operation, part of a wider crackdown on the robbery syndicate.
A manhunt is ongoing for the remaining members, with the Inspector-General of Police deploying a special anti-robbery team from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to assist the Ahafo Regional Command.
C/Insp. Kwadwo Boakye, Public Relations Officer for the Ghana Police in Ahafo, assured the public that the police are committed to apprehending all members of the criminal group and bringing them to justice.
The police have called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as operations continue to dismantle the robbery syndicate in the region.
