A violent rainstorm has claimed the life of a kitchen staff -Miss Alifo Joyce and left another- Mawusi Adinkrah, critically injured at the Amankwaa Fisheries and Technical Institute (AFATI) in the Kwahu Afram Plains North District in Eastern Region.
The storm, which struck with strong winds, caused extensive damage to property on the school’s campus, completely ripping off the roof of a hall used as both Assembly Hall and dining facility for students and staff.
The victims were in the facility when the roof caved in.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu Afram Plains North, Kate Mawusi, led a delegation to the school to express condolences to the bereaved family and the entire community.
She assured swift intervention from the district assembly to reproof the affected structures and restore normalcy and safeguard the wellbeing of students and staff.
Meanwhile the injured victim is receiving treatment at the a local clinic.
