A young man has committed suicide by jumping from the Achimota overhead bridge in Accra in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 13, 2025.
Eyewitnesses said the man was seen running along the bridge moments before he suddenly leapt over the edge in full view of bystanders.
Attempts by onlookers to reach him proved futile as he died instantly from the fall.
According to witnesses, it took some time for police officers to arrive at the scene. The body was later removed as a crowd gathered in shock and silence.
The man’s identity has not yet been established, and the motive behind his actions remains unknown. Police say investigations are underway.
