A 38-year-old miner, identified as Martin Issah, has been shot dead in a suspected robbery attack at Aketechieso, a mining community in the Amansie Central District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident, which occurred late Sunday, October 5, 2025, has left residents in shock and fear.
According to reports, Martin and his brother, Daniel Issah, were returning home from a mining site at Adomanu when they were ambushed by armed assailants.
The attackers allegedly demanded the brothers’ gold detector before opening fire.
Martin was hit in the face and died instantly, while Daniel sustained gunshot injuries but managed to flee the scene to seek help.
The Assembly Member for the Aketechieso–Amamuom–Anakyirem Electoral Area, Krobea Asante, confirmed the incident and described it as a growing security concern in the area.
The deceased’s body has been conveyed to the morgue, while his brother is undergoing treatment at a nearby health facility.
Meanwhile, police in the Amansie Central District have launched a full-scale investigation to track down and arrest the perpetrators.
