The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an internal investigation following allegations that some officers of its Customs Division Task Force in the Ashanti Region demanded improper payments from traders.
The claims, raised by the Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG), center on incidents where containers en route to Kumasi were intercepted on grounds of alleged undervaluation. TAGG alleges that officers subsequently demanded additional payments, which importers contended were unjustified.
In a statement issued on Thursday, November 27, 2025, the GRA said it “takes these allegations seriously and has commenced an internal investigation into the matter to ascertain the facts.” The Authority added that the inquiry will be “comprehensive, and the general public will be informed about the outcome as soon as it is concluded.”
Reaffirming its commitment to integrity and transparency, the GRA urged stakeholders to assist the investigation by reporting any suspected malpractice. “We therefore urge all stakeholders and the general public to support these efforts by reporting such malpractices through our established channels,” the release said.
The Authority emphasized that maintaining accountability and fairness remains a top priority.
