Three parents in Kasoa have been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing their own children, following a complaint from the Awutu Senya East Municipal Education Directorate to the Ghana Police Service.
Officials from the directorate said the affected girls reported the abuse to the Girl-Child and Guidance and Counselling coordinators, highlighting a growing trend of child abuse in the municipality.
Police acted quickly and arrested all three fathers, who are now cooperating with ongoing investigations.
The Municipal Education Directorate expressed concern that violations of children’s rights remain common in the area and called for stronger coordination among stakeholders to protect vulnerable children.
The directorate also pointed out that the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), despite having 16 regional and 182 district offices across the country, does not yet have an office in Awutu Senya East, leaving many victims without easy access to support services.
