A 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment with hard labour for defiling a 13-year-old girl in Mumford in the Central Region.
The sentence was handed down on October 28, 2025, by Circuit Court Two in Cape Coast, presided over by Her Honour Nana Aba Quiba Nunoo.
According to the police in a statement on October 29, 2025, Mr. Armah pleaded guilty to the charge and was convicted on his own plea. He has since been transferred to Ankaful Prison to begin serving his sentence.
The incident, which occurred on October 16, 2025, sparked public outrage after a video of the assault circulated widely on social media.
In the video, Mr. Armah accused the girl of stealing GH¢800 and demanded GH¢200 every hour as “payment,” while the victim pleaded for him to stop the assault to search for the money.
The Central Regional Police Command, the statement noted, arrested Armah on October 17, 2025, following a report received by the Apam District Police Command.
With support from the Mumford task force, police apprehended him at a ghetto in Mumford, where he had lured the victim.
The girl was taken to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
The Police have confirmed that Samuel Armah has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment in hard labour, following his conviction for defilement.
