The Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (CLOGSAG), has ordered all staff of the Births and Deaths Registry across the country to withdraw their services starting Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
This follows what Association describes as an unfavourable working environment under the Acting Registrar, Samuel Adom Botchway.
In a letter dated June 12 and signed by CLOGSAG Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, the Association accused Mr. Botchway of misconduct, including unauthorized postings and reassignment of staff within the Civil and Local Government Services without due process.
According to the Association, Mr. Botchway’s alleged actions, coupled with constant threats, have created a toxic and hostile atmosphere at the Registry, despite previous petitions aimed at resolving leadership challenges at the institution.
“His constant threats has created uncongenial atmosphere at the workplace” ,” the letter addressed to the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations stated.
Following an emergency meeting held on June 12, 2025, the CLOGSAG National Executive Council (NEC) resolved that all Registry staff should remain at home until a safe and supportive work environment is restored.
