Joseph Ade Coker, former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has passed away after a brief illness.

He is reportedly have died on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.

While the exact cause of death has not been officially disclosed, family and party sources have confirmed his passing.

A prominent figure within the NDC, Ade Coker was widely respected for his political experience, unwavering convictions, and vocal advocacy on national issues.

He served as Greater Accra Regional Chairman from 2009 and was re-elected twice, leading the region for three consecutive terms until his defeat in 2022 by Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

His contributions, however, extended beyond politics. Ade Coker was also a passionate football enthusiast and administrator.

He served as a Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association and was a staunch supporter of Accra Great Olympics Football Club.

Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues, friends, and party faithful.

Edudzi Tamakloe, the Head of the NDC Legal Directorate and a former Deputy Regional Youth Organizer under Coker’s leadership, in a Facebook post confirmed his demise, while paying a heartfelt tribute.

“I call him Chairman Ade Coker.mI served under his chairmanship as a Deputy Regional Youth Organizer in Greater Accra region. He was a father figure and he taught me a lot. He taught me one thing, you can’t stop people from talking about you but learn how to react. Most importantly, get the work done. He calls me “my lawyer.” You have served party and Ghana well. Rest well in the Lord’s Mighty hands. Amen.”
