Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has called for sustainable funding, stronger institutional coordination and effective monitoring to support youth-led peacebuilding and security initiatives.
Speaking at the ECOWAS Ministerial Consultation on Youth, Peace and Security in Accra on Tuesday, October 27, he said commitments to youth participation must be backed by the resources and structures needed to translate policies into meaningful results.
Mr Ayariga stressed that young people needed adequate support to participate effectively in conflict prevention, peacebuilding and efforts to promote stability across Ghana and the West African sub-region.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration among government institutions, youth organisations and other stakeholders to ensure that interventions are coordinated and respond to the needs of young people and their communities.
According to him, credible monitoring and accountability mechanisms would be essential to track progress, assess the impact of youth peace initiatives and ensure that resources are used effectively.
He said sustained investment in youth participation would help strengthen peacebuilding efforts and support long-term stability across the region.
