President of the Legal Green Association at the Ghana School of Law, Dr. Desmond Kofi Annan (FCGBA), has been elected as the Communication Officer for the Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr. Annan, who is also a journalist with the Class Media Group, secured a decisive victory in the constituency election held over the weekend.
He polled 884 votes to beat his contender, William Yaw Adenyo, who garnered 590 votes.
The election, which was keenly contested, saw party delegates throw their weight behind Dr. Annan, citing his experience in both the media and legal fraternity as key assets for the party’s communication machinery in the constituency.
His election comes at a crucial time as the NDC prepares to strengthen its grassroots communication ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Annan, a lawyer-in-training at the Ghana School of Law, currently serves as the President of the Legal Green Association, a vibrant student wing of the NDC at the law school known for its legal advocacy and political mobilisation.
In his victory speech, Dr. Annan thanked delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to run an all-inclusive communication that will project the party’s achievements and hold government accountable.
He also promised to work closely with the constituency executives and the rank and file of the party to ensure victory for the NDC in Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro in the next elections.
The Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro constituency is considered a strategic constituency for the NDC in the Greater Accra Region.
Dr. Annan’s combination of legal training, media experience and party activism is expected to bring a new dynamism to the constituency’s communication
