The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Weija-Gbawe Constituency of the Greater Accra Region is set to organise a two-day breast cancer awareness programme dubbed “Pink Weekend with Maa Jane” to promote women’s health and encourage early detection of breast cancer.
The programme, organised by the constituency’s Women’s Wing under the leadership of Women’s Organiser Jane Obeng-Fosu, will be held on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026.
It is being held under the theme, “Together for Awareness, United for Early Detection,” with a focus on the role of the Women’s Wing in promoting women’s health in Weija-Gbawe.
The first day of the programme will feature a pink walk on Saturday, October 24, beginning at 6:00 a.m.
The walk will start at SCC Junction and proceed through Pharmatrust, SCC Post Office and One-plus-One before ending at the office of the constituency’s Member of Parliament, Jerry Ahmed Shaib.
The activity is intended to raise awareness about breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection.
The second day, Sunday, October 25, will focus on breast cancer screening and health education.
The session is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. at Aunty Bee Maternity Hospital, located on Mallam Borla Road.
The programme is expected to provide an opportunity to promote awareness of breast health and encourage women to take proactive steps towards early detection.
The initiative is being held under the auspices of Hon. Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe and Second Deputy Minority Whip.
Through the Pink Weekend initiative, the NPP Women’s Wing in the constituency seeks to encourage greater awareness of breast cancer and strengthen community participation in promoting women’s health.
