Flagbearer and leader of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has held consultations with three health sector professional associations as part of efforts to gather stakeholder input on policies to help address challenges facing the sector.
The meetings brought together the leadership of the Ghana Health Information Management Association, the Ghana Association of Community Mental Health Officers, and the Nutrition and Dietetics Association of Ghana.
Discussions focused on professional cadre recognition, legislation, recruitment, regulation and improved conditions of service for members of the respective associations.
Dr Bawumia said the engagements formed part of his ongoing stakeholder consultations, which he described as an opportunity to better understand the concerns of professional groups and develop policies tailored to their needs.
“Every conversation offers an opportunity to better understand the issues and helps us design tailor-made policies to serve the people of Ghana,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to the three associations for sharing their experiences and perspectives, noting that their contributions would help inform policy discussions on health sector development.
The consultations form part of Dr Bawumia’s broader engagement with stakeholders as he seeks input on policy priorities and proposals aimed at addressing concerns across various sectors.
