The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in the Ashanti Region, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has officially inducted Prof. Christian Agyare as the 13th Vice- Chancellor of the university.
The induction ceremony, held on August 1, 2026, formally marked Prof. Agyare’s assumption of office following the completion of the tenure of his predecessor, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson, whose term ended on July 31, 2026.
In his new role, Prof. Agyare is expected to provide strategic leadership for one of Ghana’s premier technology public university, building on the institution’s achievements in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
The ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering of traditional leaders, government officials, members of the university community, and other invited guests.
Among those in attendance were the Juabenhene, Nana Otuo Sereboe II; Bompatahene, Nana Effah Appenteng; the immediate past Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Rita Akosua Dickson; Chief of Staff Julius Debrah; Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams; and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
The induction signifies the beginning of a new chapter in KNUST’s history as the university looks to consolidate its position as a leading centre for higher education, research, and technological innovation in Ghana and across Africa.
Stakeholders expressed confidence that Prof. Agyare’s leadership will further advance the university’s mission of academic excellence, innovation, and national development.
