Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has officially declared his intention to seek re-election to the position again, expressing gratitude to party members for the trust and confidence they have placed in him.
In a message announcing his decision on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Mr. Gbande reflected on his first term, which began four years ago, when he contested the position alongside seven other candidates and emerged victorious.
He acknowledged that his time in office had come with successes as well as mistakes, but maintained that he had carried out his responsibilities with dedication and commitment to the party.
“Four years ago, I presented myself, and among seven able colleagues, I emerged.
I served and made my own mistakes on the job, succeeded in many counts and diligently executed my responsibilities with dedication,” he stated.
Mr. Gbande thanked party members and supporters for their continued confidence in his leadership as he seeks another term.
“I wish to thank each and everyone for your trust and confidence,” he said, adding that he was ready to continue the journey with their support.
“We will do it together again,” he added.
His declaration comes as the NDC prepares for its next round of internal elections to select national officers who will steer the party’s affairs.
