Veteran journalist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) organiser Adnan Adams Mohammed has declared his intention to contest for a position on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), pledging to strengthen grassroots participation and professionalise the party’s communication structures.
In a declaration letter dated October 20, 2026, Mr. Adams Mohammed said his experience across various levels of the party had given him a clear understanding of the challenges facing its structures and the need to improve communication between the national leadership and the grassroots.
He recounted his political journey, which began as a Branch Secretary before progressing to Constituency Communications Officer and later serving on the party’s national communication front.
As a founding member of the NDC Press Corps, he said he had witnessed how communication gaps between the national headquarters and branch executives could weaken the party’s effectiveness at the grassroots.
“Having worked from the branch level all the way to the national platform, I understand both the core operational needs of our grassroots members and the strategic imperative required at the national executive level,” he stated.
Mr. Adams Mohammed said that, if elected, he would work to streamline communication between the national leadership and branch executives to ensure grassroots members are adequately resourced, heard and prioritised.
He argued that strengthening the communication chain would help improve coordination within the party and ensure that information about its policies and activities reaches members effectively.
Drawing on his journalism background, he also called for a shift from reactive media engagement to a proactive communication strategy that allows the NDC to shape public discussions and clearly explain its policies to voters.
“We must leverage professional media experience to proactively shape the public narrative and articulate our party’s policies clearly to the electorate,” he said.
The aspiring NEC member also pledged to expand training opportunities for young communicators and party cadres as part of efforts to build a more professional, disciplined and effective communication network.
He maintained that the party’s future would depend not only on the messages it communicates but also on the capacity of the people responsible for managing its structures.
Formally announcing his intention to contest, Mr. Adams Mohammed said the NDC needed leaders with practical experience, organisational depth, loyalty and the ability to implement effective political strategies.
“The NDC remains the hope of the Ghanaian people,” he said.
