Benedict Amelorku has taken a commanding lead in the presidential contest of the 59th National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Delegates Elections 2026, recording 1,225 votes at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) campus in Sunyani.
The statement of poll and declaration of results lists eight candidates who contested for the presidential position, with Amelorku recording the highest number of votes.
Agripah Opoku placed second with 209 votes, while Selma Yoda followed with 186 votes.
The other candidates recorded significantly lower totals. Latif Lawrence Jorhowie received three votes, while Joyland Dedey Mensah and Emmanuel Mawuli Tsikata each obtained two votes. Alvin Adjei Othere secured one vote, while Dennis Opoku Boadu recorded zero votes.
According to the results sheet dated October 18, 2026, a total of 1,642 ballots were issued to voters. The document recorded zero spoilt ballots and 13 rejected ballots.
The declared total of valid votes was 1,629, with the total votes in the ballot box recorded as 1,642.
However, the individual votes listed against the eight candidates add up to 1,628, leaving a one-vote discrepancy between the candidate totals and the declared valid votes.
The discrepancy requires clarification from the relevant election officials before the figures can be considered fully reconciled.
The results sheet identifies the venue as the UENR campus in Sunyani and lists the position contested as NUGS President.
The declaration section names Chelenat Dantels as the presiding officer and records the time as 7:15 p.m. on October 18, 2026.
The document includes a declaration stating that the results represent “a true and accurate account of the ballot” at the polling station.
The supplied results sheet provides the figures for the presidential contest, although the one-vote difference in the declared valid-vote total remains to be clarified.
