Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has hosted a six-member delegation from the Ministry of Finance for discussions on its operational challenges, financial position and development priorities.
The delegation was welcomed by TOR’s Technical Advisor, Nana Amoasi VII, who expressed appreciation for the visit and described it as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the refinery and the Ministry.
Discussions focused on TOR’s operational difficulties, potential government support and the refinery’s role in advancing the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.
Management led by Deputy Managing Director, Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar also highlighted the refinery’s contribution to job creation, revealing that it had created about 500 jobs over the past year.
The engagement provided an opportunity for both parties to explore areas of cooperation to support TOR’s operations and long-term development.
The Ministry of Finance delegation also expressed interest in internship opportunities at the refinery to gain practical experience in engineering and refinery operations.
In response, TOR management welcomed the proposal and reaffirmed its commitment to knowledge-sharing, skills development and building technical capacity.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured several key facilities to gain first-hand insight into the refinery’s infrastructure and operations.
The facilities visited included the Utilities, Tank Farm, New Safety Block, Quality Control Block and the F-61 Furnace at the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU).
The tour offered the delegation an opportunity to observe key aspects of the refinery’s operations and technical infrastructure.
TOR said it remained committed to strengthening its collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders to support its operational development.
The refinery added that such partnerships would be important in advancing Ghana’s energy security, promoting industrial growth and supporting the government’s broader economic development agenda.
