The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, under the leadership of Dr John Jinapor, has handed over sites for the construction of a new 161/35kV sub-station at Ho and the upgraded 45-kilometre Asiekpe–Ho transmission line.
The project, being implemented through the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), is estimated to cost GHS598 million.
The initiative is aimed at improving voltage levels and strengthening the reliability of electricity supply within Ho and communities along the Eastern Corridor.
It is also expected to provide additional capacity to meet rising electricity demand driven by population growth and economic activities in the area.
The new sub-station, together with the upgraded transmission infrastructure, are expected to enhance the stability and efficiency of power delivery while reducing constraints on the existing network.
According to the Ministry, work on the project is expected to be completed within six to 12 months.
The development forms part of ongoing efforts by the government to expand and modernise Ghana’s electricity transmission infrastructure and ensure reliable and sustainable power supply to communities and businesses in the region.
