Aspiring National Youth Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Okai Mintah, has continued his engagements with key stakeholders and young government appointees as he prepares to contest the party’s National Youth Organiser position.
On Tuesday, Mr Mintah paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Petroleum Hub Development Commission (PHDC), where he formally informed two Deputy Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), Onasis Kobby and Halimatu Sadia Abdulai, of his decision to contest the position when nominations open.
The engagement formed part of his broader consultations with young appointees and stakeholders ahead of the NDC’s internal elections.
Mr Mintah said his meeting with the two Deputy CEOs was aimed at sharing his vision and formally communicating his intention to seek the position of National Youth Organiser.
He acknowledged the contributions of Mr Kobby and Ms Abdulai to youth and grassroots empowerment, describing their consistent support for young people as commendable.
According to him, their encouragement and support strengthened his resolve to pursue the position and contribute to building a stronger youth wing for the NDC.
Mr Mintah has in recent weeks intensified his engagements with young party activists, opinion leaders and government appointees as he builds support for his bid.
His campaign has focused on strengthening grassroots structures, mobilising the youth and positioning the NDC to protect its parliamentary seats while reclaiming constituencies currently held by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He has also stressed the need for early preparation and sustained grassroots engagement ahead of the party’s future electoral contests.
The NDC is expected to open nominations for its national executive positions at a later date, paving the way for interested aspirants to formally enter the race.
