The Bono East Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission’s (PURC) swift intervention has resulted in the restoration of electricity supply to residents and consumers of Abofour-Dumasua, in the Offinso South Municipality in the Ashanti Region, over recent quality-of service of electricity provision to the community.
The residents have lodged a complaint with the Regional Office of the Commission, over a faulty 200KVA transformer which serves the community and had become faulty, in the first week of this month, putting the entire community into darkness.
Following the concerns and grievances by the residents, the PURC intervened by first visiting the community to assure residents of its involvement in the matter.
The Commission directed the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) to expedite action on the faulty transformer replacement.
The delays in the transformer replacement which was due to a transportational challenge encountered by NEDCo, has worsen the plights of the consumers who have had to endure for weeks without electricity.
Meanwhile, the PURC on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 accompanied NEDCo on supervision purposes and for replacement of the faulty transformer, after which electricity supply was restored to the Dumasua community.
The Commission thank the residents for their patience and understanding during the period of the electricity supply interruption.
The residents on the other hand, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Commission for the intervention.
