The IGP Special Operations Team (SOT) has arrested seven people in separate intelligence-led operations targeting suspected narcotic-related activities in Ejisu, Abrepo Junction and Atimatim in the Ashanti Region.
The arrests were carried out on Thursday, August 20, 2026, following intelligence gathered by the Police on suspected activities involving the possession, control, use and peddling of narcotic substances.
At Ejisu, the Police arrested 43-year-old Nana Kwadwo Adu and 48-year-old Nana Kwame Fella.
Four others were arrested at Abrepo Junction. They are 23-year-old Stephanie Anokye, 20-year-old Roland Anokye, 30-year-old Gideon Owusu and 27-year-old Grace Fosua.
At Atimatim, the SOT arrested 27-year-old Kofi Opoku, who was allegedly involved in the peddling of narcotic substances and had reportedly evaded arrest on previous occasions.
The operations also led to the recovery of several suspected narcotic and unregistered pharmaceutical substances.
According to the Police, officers recovered quantities of pill pouches containing dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances, as well as quantities of Tramaking 225mg and 250mg, Royal 255mg and Rophynol 100mg.
The team also recovered 860 tablets and capsules of Tramadol suspected to be unregistered drugs, along with an unspecified amount of Ghanaian currency.
The Police said all seven suspects remain in custody and are assisting with investigations.
The ongoing investigation is expected to establish the source of the substances, determine the extent of the suspects’ alleged involvement and identify other individuals who may be connected to the activities under investigation.
The Police Command urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support efforts to combat activities that threaten public safety and security.
It said further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
