Two watchmen of the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School have been interdicted over an alleged sexual assault involving a special needs student of the school.
This was confirmed by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
According to the Service, the student is a special needs student who is on medication and reportedly suffered a relapse on the day of the incident, requiring medical attention.
“It was during this period that the alleged incident occurred,” the GES said.
The two watchmen have been arrested and handed over to the police for further investigations. Their interdiction has also taken immediate effect.
The GES said investigations into the matter are ongoing and assured that appropriate sanctions would be applied based on the outcome of the investigations.
“Based on the outcome of the investigations, Management will apply the appropriate sanctions in accordance with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana,” the Service stated.
The GES has also cautioned all staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of every student.
The Service assured parents, guardians and the general public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.
