The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled October 3, 2026 for its National Executive Elections, with nominations expected to open from August 17 to 22, 2026.

According to an updated timetable issued by the party’s National Elections Committee, aspirants will file their nominations between August 23 and 27, followed by vetting from August 31 to September 3.

The results of the vetting are expected to be published on September 5, with appeals scheduled for September 6 and 7.

The National Executive Committee and National Council are expected to meet on September 10, while the official Notice of Poll will be issued on September 14.

The elections will be supervised by a nine-member National Elections Committee chaired by former Member of Parliament for Suhum, Frederick Opare-Ansah.

The committee includes former Deputy Finance Minister Abena Osei-Asare as Vice Chairperson, Oboshie Sai Coffie, Frank Davies, Anthony Karbo, Salam Ama Mpianimaa Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman, and Evans Nimako as Secretary.

The party has also constituted a nine-member National Vetting Committee chaired by former Minister for Aviation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.

Other members include Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Saeed, Ambassador (Dr) Barffour Agyei-Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, Arnold Boateng and Evans Nimako as Secretary.

A nine-member Appeals Committee, chaired by former Attorney-General Joe Ghartey, will handle petitions from aspirants who are dissatisfied with decisions of the Vetting Committee.

The party said aspirants must have been known and active registered members for at least two years, be of good character and be in good standing, including having paid membership dues for at least the previous two years.

Candidates must also pay the prescribed fees, satisfy the National Vetting Committee’s requirements and secure endorsement from at least one member in good standing from each of the 16 regions.

For the National Youth Organiser position, candidates must be below 40 years of age.

Members of the National Elections Committee will not be eligible to contest in the elections.

The party said any committee member who intends to contest will have to be replaced by the National Executive Committee.

The NPP has set the cost of nomination forms at GHS50,000 for National Chairperson, GHS30,000 for Vice Chairpersons and GHS25,000 for General Secretary.

Forms for the other national positions will cost GHS10,000, while candidates seeking positions in the Nasara, Women and Youth wings will pay GHS8,000.

The party said nomination forms would be available from the National Elections Committee or National Secretariat at Asylum Down. Forms may also be downloaded from the party’s website, although applicants who do so must still pay the prescribed fee before their completed forms can be accepted.

The positions to be contested include National Chairperson, National Vice Chairpersons, General Secretary, National Treasurer, National Organiser, National Women Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser and National Communication Director.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana is expected to conduct the elections under the supervision of the National Elections Committee in accordance with the Political Parties Act, 2000 (Act 574).

The party said the electoral college will comprise members of the National Council and National Executive Committee, Regional and Constituency Executive Committees, External Branch Executive Committees, the National Council of Elders and other designated party structures.

It will also include the National TESCON Coordinator, TESCON Presidents from recognised tertiary institutions, 30 National Patrons elected from among themselves, founding members who are signatories to the party’s registration documents at the Electoral Commission, all NPP Members of Parliament and members of the party’s special organs.

For the National Women Organiser position, female delegates at the National Delegates Conference, including TESCON Women Commissioners, will be eligible to vote.

Youth delegates, including TESCON Presidents from accredited institutions, will vote for the National Youth Organiser.

The National Nasara Organiser will be elected by Nasara coordinators and deputies at the national, regional, constituency and external branch levels, as well as TESCON Nasara Coordinators and former national Nasara coordinators and deputies.

The party further stated that at least one-third of delegates to the National Delegates Conference must be present to constitute a quorum.
