President John Dramani Mahama has approved a major reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat, involving new appointments, reassignments and changes to several key operational positions.
The changes, announced by the Presidency on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, are aimed at strengthening the structure and operational effectiveness of the country’s national security machinery.
Under the new arrangement, retired Major General William Ayamdo, a former Chief of Army Staff, has been appointed Deputy National Security Coordinator in charge of Operations.
Former National Security Coordinator Yaw Donkor has also been reassigned as Director of Intelligence and Research at the Office of the National Security Advisor.
Other appointments include Mr Adamu Saaka as Director of Logistics and Transport, while Ms Faustina Effah-Boadi has been appointed Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department.
DCOP (Rtd.) Peter Ndekugri has also been assigned as Officer in Charge of the Special Investigations Unit.
Meanwhile, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further deployment.
The changes were contained in a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
The statement said the appointments and reassignments form part of President Mahama’s broader efforts to reorganise and strengthen the National Security Council Secretariat.
“His Excellency the President has approved the following appointments and reassignments as part of the reorganisation of the National Security Council Secretariat,” the statement said.
The Presidency indicated that all the new appointments and reassignments take immediate effect.
