The National Deputy Women’s Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Miss Felicia Tegah, has assured that good people of Okaikoi North and NDC will “retire” New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate Hon. Oheneba Dokua Asiamah-Adjei from active politics.

In her remarks, Tegah expressed her misgivings about Dokua’s decision to leave her constituency in Akropong and contest for a seat already held by her parliamentary colleague, Theresa Lardi Awuni.

Speaking on Radio XYZ Morning show “Kaw’asem”with Agya Wusu, Tegah described Dokua’s actions as fueled by “greed and covetousness.” According to Tegah, the NPP candidate’s decision to leave Akropong reflects her desperation, adding that Dokua’s presence in Okaikoi North is a ploy that will be rejected by voters who are aware of her record.

“Theresa is your colleague MP in Parliament, but you decided to leave your constituency and go for hers just because of greed and covetousness,” Tegah stated, calling Dokua’s actions insensitive.

Tegah criticized what she termed as Dokua’s poor performance in Akropong, suggesting that her underwhelming tenure there forced her to seek greener pastures in Okaikoi North. “I worked closely with Theresa Awuni in Okaikoi North, and I know how she works tirelessly for the good people of Okaikoi North. Previously, the NPP used to win Okaikoi North with 2,000 votes or more, but we fought very hard in 2020 to win the seat,” Tegah said. She added, “There are several times where Dokua has regretted heavily for deciding to contest in Okaikoi North because the NDC is well-grounded there.”

Tegah further alleged that Dokua has been attempting to sway prospective voters with cash handouts and electronic appliances, including televisions.

“Dokua has now resorted to sharing money and TVs across the constituency, but we are unperturbed because we will retire her forever from active politics,” she assured listeners.

According to Tegah, the NDC is confident in its support base and in the loyalty of the people of Okaikoi North, who she believes cannot be easily influenced by material gifts. “Money alone cannot buy the good people of Okaikoi North,” Tegah affirmed.
