The Ghana Police Service has arrested Israel Kwadwo Safo, also known as Akofena, in connection with the shooting incident involving former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, which occurred on June 21, 2026.
According to a police statement, the suspect voluntarily reported himself to the Regional Police Headquarters on June 22, 2026, where he was subsequently handed over to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations.
Following his arrest, police conducted a search of his vehicle and residence at Kwabenya, where they retrieved a cache of ammunition, including 120 rounds of 9mm ammunition, 50 rounds of .45 calibre rounds, 25 rounds of .40 calibre ammunition, as well as additional loaded magazines.
Two Glock pistols were also recovered, one of which is reportedly registered in his name.
The police further disclosed that two additional suspects, identified as Nana Kwaku Afriyie and Kwadwo Safo Koomson, have been arrested in connection with the same incident.
All three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court on June 23, 2026.
The police say investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting incident and to identify any other persons linked to the case.
