One person has been confirmed dead, another remains missing, and more than 4,000 residents have been displaced following heavy rains that triggered severe flooding in parts of the Aowin Municipality in the Western North Region.
According to the Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Karim Ndego, two individuals were swept away by floodwaters during the downpour.
He confirmed that 52-year-old Joseph Dwamena Boateng drowned in the Boinso River, while another victim, identified only as “G-Boy,” is still missing.
Mr. Ndego said search and rescue operations are ongoing, but rising water levels and logistical challenges are making the exercise difficult.
Authorities say they are closely monitoring the situation as affected residents continue to seek temporary shelter following the widespread displacement caused by the flooding.
