The Ghana Police Service has killed two suspected armed robbers following a failed attack on a mobile money vendor at Tema Community 5.
The incident occurred on Monday, April 13, 2026, when the suspects allegedly posed as customers and attempted to rob a MoMo operator at Aba Fosuah Plaza.
According to police, the situation escalated after one of the men pulled a firearm during a cash-out transaction.
The victim resisted, leading to a struggle in which she was shot in the leg before the suspects fled the scene on a motorbike.
A police patrol team that was nearby responded to a distress call and pursued the suspects. The chase ended in an exchange of gunfire near Community 6.
The Ghana Police Service said in a statement, “The Police returned fire, and in the ensuing exchange, both suspects sustained gunshot wounds and fell off the motorbike.”
The suspects were rushed to the Police Hospital but were pronounced dead on arrival.
A search on the suspects recovered a loaded pistol, ammunition, mobile phones, SIM cards, a Ghana Card, cash, and a motorbike key. Police also confirmed that the Ghana Card found on them belonged to the robbery victim.
The injured MoMo vendor is receiving treatment and is reported to be in stable condition, while investigations continue.
