A member of the Council of State, Eunice Jacqueline Buah Asomah-Hinneh has been reported dead.
Until her demise, Ms. Asomah-Hinneh was the representative of the Western Region on the Council of State. Prior to that, she served as a member of the Board of Directors of the GPHA from 2017 to 2021.
In 2022, she was the subject of an investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which accused her of engaging in influence-peddling. She allegedly used her positions as a member of the Council of State and the Board of Directors of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) to secure a favourable decision from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), resulting in a reduction in the tax liabilities of Labianca Limited, a company she owned.
Close associates say she passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, June 11, 2024, after being rushed to the hospital following complaints of feeling unwell on Monday.
