The late Deputy Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr Dramani Bukari, has been laid to rest in Damongo, the Savannah Regional capital in accordance with Islamic traditions.

The burial ceremony, held Thursday, brought together family members, management and staff of the NPA, industry players, colleagues, friends and sympathisers from across the country.

The funeral rites began with a sermon by Islamic clergy on the inevitability of death, followed by the Janazah prayer at the deceased’s family residence.

Following the prayers, the remains of Dr Bukari were conveyed to the Damongo cemetery, where he was buried according to Islamic tradition.

Hundreds of mourners, including dignitaries and industry captains, attended the ceremony to pay their final respects and offer condolences to the bereaved family.

Dr Dramani Bukari died on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after a short illness.

During his tenure as Deputy Chief Executive of the NPA, Dr Bukari played a key role in the development of the Authority’s Centre of Excellence and championed the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy Programme within Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector.

He also served in various capacities and was widely respected for his humility, discipline, dedication and selfless leadership.

Colleagues and associates remembered him as a committed professional who demonstrated genuine concern for his family, friends, subordinates and colleagues.

Dr Bukari was also an academic, husband, father and mentor whose contributions to the petroleum sector and the people around him earned him widespread respect.
