The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disbursed over GH¢15.8 million to Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) across the country to fund the practical components of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a press statement dated Saturday, July 26, and signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, GES confirmed that the funds are specifically meant to procure materials and logistics needed for science, technical, and vocational practical exams scheduled to begin soon.

The move, GES explained, is part of a broader government initiative to ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, while ensuring a smooth and efficient exam process for final-year students.

“This payment ensures that all practical examinations scheduled for the 2025 WASSCE are fully supported, including the provision of the required materials and other essential resources. With the release of the funds, GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work, while relieving parents and guardians of any such financial burden,” the statement read.

GES also directed regional, district, and school heads to apply the funds strictly for their intended purpose, warning that the Service will closely monitor disbursement and usage to ensure transparency and accountability.

The Education Service expressed gratitude to stakeholders for their continued cooperation in advancing quality education and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting student success at all levels.
