The newly appointed Acting Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Mr. Edmond Kombat Esq., has pledged his unwavering commitment to national service, promising to lead the refinery with resolve and dedication to its transformation agenda.
In his acceptance speech following the announcement of his appointment by the President of the Republic, Mr. Kombat expressed deep appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama and the Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, for the confidence reposed in him.
“I am deeply honoured and grateful to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama and my big brother and boss, the Hon. Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, for the confidence reposed in me through my appointment as Acting Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery,” he stated.
Calling the appointment “a profound privilege and a call to dedicated service,” Mr. Kombat assured stakeholders of his readiness to work closely with them to reposition the refinery and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s energy security and industrial growth.
He concluded his statement with a bold declaration of purpose and commitment: “We will bear any burden and pay any price to get the job done.”
Mr. Kombat, a seasoned energy expert and co-founder of the Institute of Energy Security (IES), brings years of experience from both public and private sector roles, including the Ministry of Energy, the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), and TOR itself.
His appointment has been welcomed by many within the energy sector as a timely move to revitalize Ghana’s premier refinery and restore its role as a strategic national asset.
