The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be made available today, Friday, September 5, 2025.
Addressing journalists in Accra, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, said the release would be completed before the end of the day.
The 2025 BECE, which covered both school and private candidates, was held nationwide from June 11 to June 18. In total, 603,328 school candidates sat for the exams — 297,250 boys and 306,078 girls — representing 20,395 schools. For the private examination, 1,661 candidates registered, made up of 858 males and 803 females.
WAEC noted that the private candidate entries saw a sharp growth of 19.49 percent compared to previous years, while entries for school candidates rose by 5.99 percent.
The provisional results for school candidates were already released on August 23, 2025. With today’s release, the full cycle of the 2025 BECE will officially conclude.
Meanwhile, WAEC emphasized that all candidates found guilty of exam malpractice have been sanctioned in accordance with the council’s rules, following recommendations from its investigative committee.
