The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed that one person has died and 16 others sustained injuries following a road traffic accident at Peki Tsame on the Peki–Asikuma highway.

According to the GNFS, the incident involved a Toyota Hiace bus, registration GT 7012-24, which reportedly suffered a rear tyre burst, causing it to overturn.

Personnel from the Peki Fire Station, led by ADO I Godwin Gbedemah, responded promptly to the scene, rescuing trapped passengers.

The victims, comprising eight males, seven females, and one child, were handed over to the National Ambulance Service and rushed to the Peki Government Hospital.

The GNFS reported that one of the injured passengers later died at the hospital, while the remaining 15 individuals are receiving treatment and are currently in stable condition.

The Service urged drivers to regularly maintain their vehicles to prevent tyre failures and ensure road safety.
