The Secretary-General of the Ghana Commission for UNESCO, accompanied by the Deputy Secretary-General for Programmes and the Programme Officer for Communication and Information, has paid a courtesy call on the acting Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Mr. Tanko Rashid-Computer, and the acting Deputy Administrator, Mr. Abdul-Aziz Mohammed.
The high-level engagement centered on the revitalization of Ghana’s National Information for All Programme (IFAP) Committee.
This strategic initiative, spearheaded by UNESCO, aims to advance inclusive access to information, digital literacy, and knowledge sharing in line with global standards for sustainable development.
During the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging GIFEC’s institutional capacity to host and support the IFAP Committee.
The discussions centered on strengthening collaboration to ensure equitable, ethical, and multilingual access to information across the country, particularly for underserved and marginalized communities.
The revitalization of Ghana’s IFAP Committee is expected to enhance national efforts toward bridging the digital divide, empowering citizens with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
